Basic SEO On-Page Optimization Factors

We all know Why SEO is Important, for any website. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, the process of optimizing the webpage or website in order to make it visible in the search engines for a particular keyword/query. The higher visibility the pages gain, more traffic you get for the website.

 

 

Coming to optimization, there are hundreds of factors that affect the visibility and ranking in the search engines. SEO procedure is categorised in two ways: On-Page and Off-Page Optimization. Lets check out the top and mandatory 8 On-Page factors that would make a webpage strong in SEO.

 

Title

Titles for the page or post is the most important SEO factor, it acts as an entry point to the website and also understand what is it all about and moreover it is first thing seen by the visitors in the search results. So it should optimized, simple and even attractive.

  • Length of the Title should be up to 60 characters
  • Prominent keyword or keywords should be included in the Title
  • Title should be attractive, simple and meaningful.

 

URL Structure

Search engine friendly URLs will add-on greater value to the webpage, and crawlers can easily make out the purpose and even understand the page. Google always likes simple and short URLs.

  • URLs should be short
  • Targeted Keyword should be included in the beginning of the URL
  • Avoid series of numbers and irrelevant text in the URLs

 

Meta Tags

Each webpage should have a title and a description, this would help crawlers understand the purpose of the page, So the description of the page is written in the “Meta” tag. Most importantly, these description appears in the search results, when the webpage is listed.

The length of the description should be up to 160 characters

“Content is King” and it will always be. Search Engines look for most relevant, informative and  unique content. So always see that you include good content on your page. Always satisfy your customer and even search engines with the content, when you provide the customers, what they are looking for (of course for more and more information); you are gaining their trust right!.

 

Header Tags:

When content is there on the webpage, it should be divided into different paragraphs and sections to increase the readers interest. And obviously each section should have a header, right? Header Tags are classified as H1, H2, H3, H4, H6 and H7 tags, where H1 should be the main title of the page and H2 – H7 can be used for other sub-headings of the page.

Search engines crawl through header tags also to check whether a page should be ranked in the results, so see through that you include keywords in the header tag, because the keyword-rich headers are better than the normal ones.

 

Keyword Density:

We can simply say that, Keywords are the pillars for a successful SEO strategy. Always see through that you include relevant and targeted keywords wherever possible and wherever they are mandatory. Content should be embedded with the keywords, not actually stuffed but 2-5 keywords once or twice in the whole document. To get good rankings in the search results, don’t stuff the keywords and always maintain the keyword density to be 2-5%.

 

Image Optimization:

Readers would be more interested to read your content on the website, when there are images on it and it is always best practice to include some images. The images included should be given a title and alt text, for search engines to understand because they cannot  read the images.

Include images with proper alt attributes and titles, “Alt” is known as alternative text for the image, it can be seen when mouse pointer is hovered on the image. To make images strong in SEO, include keywords in Image Title and Alt attribute; they stand out to be the strong factors, if your website is mostly depended on images.

 

Internal Linking:

Linking other pages of the website to the current page can be strong SEO factor, to grab the attention of the search engines. Internal linking also makes your website easily accessible for the visitors and also ensures that search engine crawls multiple pages. Internal linking also builds relevancy of the page and increases the keyword strength. So never forget to do internal linking in your website and always remember to do linking for relevant keywords.
