If you upload a cover pic of different size other than preset one, Facebook stretches it to fit in and in this process image quality is lost. Check out the dimensions:

  • 851 x 315 pixels optimal dimensions
  • Displays 828 x 315 pixels on Desktops
  • Displays 640 x 360 pixels on Smartphones
  • Must be at least 399 x 150 pixels
  • Image size should be less than 100 KB

Say No to Too much of Text

Previously, Facebook had a rule not to have more than 20% of text on the cover image. But in recent years, it has removed that particular rule from the Facebook Page Guidelines.
